Erzgebirge Miniatures / Putz-Toys

Wooden toys from the Erzgebirge region, southwest of the city Dresden, are a special traditional folk art done during the last centuries. It was a special craftmanship, thrilling wooden rings, and fulfilling the charming wooden toys of that era. They are all showing the developement and the standards of the technical appearance in relation to the time. The size is mostly between five to twelve cm. The early figures are cut more accurately and have a buck-nose. The so called nose-men. The vehicles have tin wheels or thrilled wooden wheels. You can also find them with fullsize metal wheels from the 1920s and 1930s. As arms and leggs appear very fragile, they can be replaced with no loss in value. Paint restoration in larger amount causes a devalue of about 30 to 50 percent, new modern colours make these things nearly worthless. If we have pieces that show those kind of defects we tell you in the description and have it also considered in our price evaluation.

Erzgebirge: so called Putz-Toys in US. Putz is Penn. Dutch and means droll, funny.
